waxing aftercare

  • Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam.
  • The first time you shower after you waxing procedure, use an antibacterial cleanser, on the waxed area(s).
  • Pinking of the skin usually disappears within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal.
  • For a first waxing, when it has been more than a couple of months since being waxed, or if skin has been lifted, there can be discomfort for 3 to 5 days. You can use an Antiseptic / Anesthetic spray, and / or an Antibiotic ointment, both are available over the counter.
  • Break outs afterwards are common. Use an alcohol free "anti-acne" wipe following the treatment, and twice a day until breakouts are gone.
  • Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes, perfume, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, or hygiene sprays (a mild, unscented, powder based deodorant can be helpful).
  • Avoid using harsh abrasives or exfoliants in the waxed area for first 24 hrs. The day after your waxing treatment, lightly exfoliate waxed area with a loofah, or other mechanical exfoliant (PFB) to avoid future problems.
  • Avoid sun tanning for 12 to 24 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.
  • Avoid applying high SPF sunblocks to the waxed area for 12-24 hours after the waxing service. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators.
